Brazilian Favela Cityscape (470mm x 330mm)

My interest in the favelas of Brazil was sparked by discovering an art project led by Dutch artists Haas & Hahn. Their daring use of bright paints to revitalise and improve upon derelict houses in Brazil led me to consider the complexities of the favelas they work with, and to eventually create the artwork below:

Yosemite National Park Landscape (290mm x 150mm)

I have always held a love and appreciation for the national parks of North America, and the stunning mountain range of Yosemite inspired me to draw this:

Aspects of the Living Room in Gaudi's Casa Batlló (Chimney and Doorway)

A visit to Barcelona exposed me to Gaudi's vast achievements for the first time, and since then I have had a keen interest in his organic and inventive works of art:

Saint Basil's Cathedral (200mm x 200mm)

Situated in Moscow's Red Square, Saint Basil's Cathedral is one of the most iconic buildings in Russia. My desire to visit this monument stems in part from my studies of Russian history, and in part due to the complexities and architectural wonder the cathedral holds. Tradition holds that the building was constructed to resemble a bonfire trailing into the sky, with this symbolism of light holding ancient importance in places of worship. The asymmetry and unusual design of the building is an architectural anomaly for the period it was built in (16th century), only adding to the architectural prominence of the cathedral:
